Axa and the Post Office (Although I think they are Axa too) do it, but the other car has to be insured.

checked AXA , they wont insurer a driver aged 18 regardless, not checked PO yet though

Quinn don't anymore - I had it on my policy for the first 2 years, but when I called them about it when I got my new car they said I would lose it at my next renewal as it wasn't something they offer anymore.

Oh ok , have you found any one else for the 3rd party extension?

Alas no. As useful as it was, the next quote up from Aviva (who dont) was £1k more so I didnt even look!

No-one's was as "open" as Quinn's, though

Why do you need this extension to your cover? It's one of those things that almost by definition; if you need it, then it probably isn't the right cover.

So, you're 18, you profess to own these cars:
Range Rover Sport TD

Mercedes SL55 AMG

Ferrari 360 spyder F1

Ferrari California

BMW X5

Yet you're worrying about insurance prices and whether you can get driving other cars on your policy?

I presume you've listed daddies cars as your own to look cool, yes?

You actually own a Corsa C don't you:

Years ago insurance companies clamped right down on this loophole, to stop teenage lads from buying a Saxo diesel, parking it in a back garden somewhere, insuring it and then buying an Impreza turbo and running it round third party on the Saxo insurance.

Most companies don't do it anymore, and those that do require you to be 25 or over. Fortunately I have it and it's useful, but I think you'll be likely to find a company that will allow it for 18 year olds.

Oli. Ordinarily a good shout, but I think mike's been to VMAX a few times over the years. In the 360 and the SL55. The "duplicated" garage is probably more to do with not changing the status of current cars when swapping them in for new ones.

I'm guessing this thread is about how to get one of his kids insured 3rd party to drive his cars?

Except it can actually be very handy - I locked my keys in my car at my girlfriends house... no problem, just drove her car home to pick up my keys. Taking a car for a test drive? If it's on the MID, I can drive it! Want to test my Dad's car? No problem.

I didn't use it much but it was very VERY helpful - there was no age, mileage or car limit, and I didn't even have to tell them what the car was before hand - I could just drive. I really wish I could still have it frown
