...Seriously, WTF are they all about?

Whilst walking the dog around the country lanes the other day only to have the blissful silence broken by a high pitched whine. About 15 minutes later some dickwad buzzes past on a stupid little bike. He looked ridiculous, like something out of a circus perhaps. WHY did he pay money for one of those?

Another thing - why are mopeds that the Chav bds smoke around on so bloody noisy?

I recon you will be referring to mini-motos, unfortunatley like everything else a few people spoil it for everyone else.

Cheap Chinease replicas made them very affordabe the could be bough for a few hundred pounds where as the more expensive ones can easily be £2000+ they are extremly good fun i used to race in the Scottish Championships (and won it) aswell as some rounds of the british.

This chap/site ( http://www.polini.co.uk/ ) Alan Mcintosh ran and supported the Scotish championship, some very competitive racing with a friedly bunch of people in all honesty.

Yeah i suppose there is a following for everything with decent people involved. That said I did have a look at the gallery on that site - Yep they look even more ridiculous as they are actually taking it seriously!

My little brother has just bought a 140cc 'Pit bike', which is like a chinese scrambler that has had a boil wash. It is amazing fun. Wheelies in second gear and fantastic for doing jumps on.

So ridiculous that Rossi and a big chunk of the moto gp, British superbike and world superbike grids must be silly and ridiculous as they started on minimotos

because they are restricted to 30mph, so when they're riding at 30mph the engine is flat out!

As an ex-biker, my opinion on this is that the noise is from the removal of the baffles. There is one such prick who rides through our village frequently with one, I KNOW the silencer has had its innards removed from the noise even at low speed; when he arrives and departs from his mate across the road - the noise is deafening. I would LOVE to remove the exhaust (I wont call it a silencer any more) and insert it in his bottom, sharp end first.

i had a interesting talk with a neighbour who was whining about the idiot with his stupidly loud car and how that ruins his peace.

The car in question is a TVR so im sure lots of people on here would argue its a great noise and should never be complained about. I really enjoy watching motorcross events and dont find a 2stroke or 4 stroke engine to be in the slightest bit annoying so can we accept that different people find different noises irritating.

Granted il accept your point about noisy scooters and to be fair its not the scooters fault that some idiot has removed the silencer.

They are actually great fun and you should have a go! Seriously some of the most fun I have had with my clothes on, hooning round a field throwing it sideways and not caring if you drop it is great craic.

They are all fairly fragile to be honest, even the more expensive ones break easily as the internals arent up to the abuse. They are too noisy but good fun.

In terms of a 50cc Scooter with it's baffles removed I think you are in a very tiny minority. They sound appalling, like a hyperactive wasp.
