Has anyone read this Honest John column in the Daily Telegraph? In the bit on automatics accelerating, he says that you can stop a car in a shorter distance if you brake with your left foot.
Now my thoughts are that the stopping distance is limited by the tyre grip, ABS cut in point and this is some of the biggest rubbish I’ve ever read. (Even in the Telegraph).
I’d arguethat if you left your right foot on the accelerator the left foot braking would take longer. Assuming you lift the right foot and peddle pressure is the same braking distance would be the same.

Good Point, so he is advocating driving around with hism left foot covering the brake, otherwise no diffrence, without the discomfort this would cause I bet he is ajoy to follow. Sorry I just think the mans an idiot.

It makes sense if you can do it. There are two pedals, you have two feet, so why not. Just like driving a go-kart. You're right foot is constantly on the throttle, so why not you left foot on the brake?

I think its reaction time he is refering too

I slopped reading HJ a long time ago, he just got on my nerves as all he did was push the same products he was obviously sponsored by and would give crap advice on cars. Ie someone would be writing in for advice on a cheap first car and he would always tell them to buy a brand new panda.
