Just a short post about an observation I made of a very naughty boy this morning on my way to work.

Police driver trainer out on the roads this morning was the car in front of me, with 2 cars in front of him. We went through a 30mph zone and once out the far side the cars in front decided that they would avoid the NSL like the plague because of the Police car behind them and sat at 40mph.

The straight we were on wasn't long enough to overtake so he sat and waited for the next straight, which is just long enough to overtake 2 cars doing 40mph in the Cerb never mind a Ovlov. Anyway, he pulls wide to have a look as we get round the corner, then pulls out to overtake (by this time quite a way along the straight as he hesitated a bit). Just as he pulled out a car appeared from other direction. Now, what he should have done was brake and pull back in. Did he? Nope he kept on going and went past both cars, causing the car in the opposite direction to Brake and swerve a little, not much, but enough.

I have seen some awful driving displayed by regular marked police cars but one should hope that a trainer would know better!

Was it a close call?

I think his trainer needs a slap on the wrist for letting him go for the overtake.

I would say within 20 feet at a closing speed of around 100-110mph (PC doing 65-70, other car doing 35-40)

yikes

That's only a couple of car lengths. Then I guess I must agree with the poster above who says report it.

I bet the car coming the other way was going to flash and beep etc but didn't as it was plod.

Agree, i have seen similar poor driving from the police and you are right no one wants to dare flash or show any kind of reaction to the poor driving for fear of what might happen to them.

If I was the car coming the other way I would have flashed at least. Simply to alert them to my presence.

Nooo it wasn't that dangerous, he was in in plenty time, I just wouldn't have entertained the maneuver in the Cerb, just made me chuckle that a Trainer would cock up and I did actually say to myself "that was a bit naughty wasn't it?"

Sounds like you need to report them... I'm slightly amazed that a trainer would let the student get away with that!

I notice police cars tailgating quite a lot, not what I would call "advanced driving".

Noticed this also.

Something which happened to me a while back was as I accelerated down the outside lane of a dual carriageway (up to 70 as I saw the fuzz) I caught up to the police car pretty quickly, he was doing about 50 or so with no cars in the inside lane. He then, instead of moving over as I thought he would, decided to stay there and put his blue lights on and told me to move back, I was well back anyway but had to drop further, he then pulled over and I overtook him.

Power trip perhaps?
