I know you can report a car if you think it may not be taxed on the Direct Gov website but I have another situation which hopefully someone can shed some light on.

Every day on a side road near my work in Manchester City Centre, there is an A5 Cab parked in the same spot. It has a "Fixed Penalty Notice" under the wiper blades EVERY single day. Now I thought at fist that maybe the driver was just unlucky and got caught out a couple of days in a row but it has been a good few weeks now. First thing that pops into my head is that it's an old penalty that's been paid and they just use it instead of buying a parking ticket like everyone else!

What do you think the best course of action would be? I have thought about going up close and reading the penalty notice but that might arouse a bit of suspicion in the busy area where it's parked!

Why would you want to report it? Is it parked over your drive?

No, but why should they get free city centre parking when everyone else has to pay?

Not sure if it's a new one but surely someone wouldn't be stupid enough to incur a £60~ fine a day rather than pay around £5!

Don't think it's a ringer or anything, it's a brand spanking new A5 S-Line cabriolet but I'm no expert.

Just think someone (ie me) would have to report it to the authorities for them to check it out.

That was my thought! But in all seriousness, who should this be reported to?

Why would you want to take time out of your life and go through the hassle of reporting somebody for something that's having no effect on you?

Seems a little sad.

IMHO if it was untaxed or Not insured I would be temtped to report it, but for having the cheek to try and avoind lining the councils pocket Its hardly the crime of the century and TBH again IMHO its seems very petty of you to want to report him for it

Because he's not a selfish tosser, maybe.

I'd report it anyway, certainly seems strange.

If it is a cloned car, the original owner will wonder what the fk is going on!

Each to their own I suppose. I doubt it would take any more than 15 minutes of my life to do it so it's hardly like I'm wasting an eternity doing it.

I just think that it's wrong. Plenty of people pay a hefty sum of money to park in the city centre each day and this car is right in the heart of it all in a very prime location. I don't see why they should be able to flout the rules and get away with it.

I don't think I'm being petty, just doing the right thing.

Oh aye, calm down love.

It wouldn't make him a selfish tosser to just walk by and mind his own business though would it? It's not affecting the OP personally.

I do just walk by, every day. I thought it's about time that something is done about it. It may not be the crime of the century but I find it morally wrong what they are doing.

Agreed. I don't get this urge people have to stick their fellow man in the st because they may be getting a bit of a beak. Good for them I say.
I'd hate to start growing a beak, personally.

There was a certain property developer in Leeds a few years ago who used to like to park outside his office the only problem being that there were double yellow lines.

He got ticketed every day but just viewed it as a £60 parking charge rather than the £8 charge he would have incurred if he had gone to the inconvenience of parking in the multi-storey round the corner.

In summary, it may well be a new ticket each time you see it and secondly traffic wardens may be a lot of things but i don't think they are stupid enough to fall for this kind of scam (they are performance monitored so aren't likley to forget that they did or didn't ticket a car)
