Basically I was fitting some Aerocatches today and my bonnet is double alloy skinned with a 3rd reinforcing frame / backing. I cut the aerocatch holes with a drill & jigsaw. Now I want to remove some of the supporting frame from the area around the catches and I don't seem to have a suitable tool to do the job. Jigsaw is no good as it'll just end up hammering the bonnet skin and snapping blades. I guess I need some sort of variation on an angle grinder (hand held circular saw maybe?) or some sort of cutting attachment for a drill? I bought a pack of dremmel attachments but they seem completely defeated by steel or aluminium. I did wonder about these reciprocating saws that look like a variation on a jigsaw but I fail to see how they'd be any better than the jigsaw? Someone must know what a professional would use in such circumstances?

a nibbler is the tool you're looking for

For the frame itself no doubt pros would use a plasma cutter or recip saw, a nibbler won't get through the separated skins of the frame.
If you don't have a recip then for awkward panels I just drill a series of adjoining holes along the inside of the cut line and file or grind smooth afterwards.

Do you have a picture of the area?

I agree with the comment above though, drill and file will work, it will just take a while!
