An enzyme found in the roots of soybeans could be the key to cars that run on air.

"Vanadium nitrogenase, an enzyme that normally produces ammonia from nitrogen gas, can also convert carbon monoxide (CO), a common industrial byproduct, into propane,"

"It is hoped that this will lead to a cheap way of making environmentally friendly, carbon-neutral 'green' fuel that can be used without major redesigns of car engines. "

There was something like that on one of those James May programs. Not convinced it would ever work on a large enough scale tbh.

I don't think it will work on the scale we need it to until well, well into the future. By then all the eco-yobs will have ridden us of the petrol car anyway.

It is very interesting though and I can see some early versions being developed in the next 5 or so year I reckon.

Future fuel will be synthesized, not mined. Once it is perfect, this and other such means could take over.

Of course, you can run your car on alcohol, just change a lot of tubing and adjust timing. smile
