Mods - Can you please leave this here for a while to get a better response.

A friend is looking at an 07 Passat 4motion and wants to know if its the 170BHP version.

Can anyone point me to a realiable VW decoder or if someone could decode it ?

Engine is a BMF ? So 140 or 170BHP

If it has the red I on the tdi it's 170

I would check further about the red 'I' thing - many people change it like the people who put M badges on their 325i

Just call VW tomorrow and they will confirm

If he will make loads of short city journeys then I would look at the dpf issue . I got an 08 170 estate

Have a look at the Data Sticker, in the spare wheel well(if its not in there, a possible sign of repair), or the same sticker should be in the first page of the service book.
Somewhere near the top you should see either 103KW=140bhp or 125KW=170bhp.
