Had a crash yesterday, was on my way to the office to do some work to get myself out of the mound of st I need to pile through. Then this!

Guy pulled out on me looking the other frigging way from a side street, as you do. I was bumbling along the main road. Speared out into the road literally right in front of me. I swerved to avoid so he hit the near side rear and spun me round in the middle of the road. Good job I swerved and he hit the back as I could have been in a bad way if it was head on.

Physically I think I'm ok, neck is pretty stiff though.

I've two witnesses, one who saw the whole thing and another who heard him say he wasn't looking, both people approached me. Don't know them from Adam.

After spending countless hours and money on this car over the last year to get it mint, as you can imagine I am pig sick.

I think I want the car back but only if I am offered sufficient money to fix it. I'm going to get the car back now from the £20 a day storage, and also notify insurance (Adrian Flux).

Any tips/advice would be useful as I've not been in this situation before. TBH, I haven't got a fking clue what I'm doing, I'm still in shock and this is the first proper crash I've had. Not pleasant.

Ryan

Not the libra! Sounds fairly straight forward to me will prolly be a write off cat D, buy it back as retained salvage and get it repaired. You can sue for denumeration of the vehicle and personal injury/loss of earnings if any. You insurance will prolly help you organise this.

The circs are pretty conclusive your insurance should be able to sort it all out.

That's what I'm hoping, that's what they're paid for anyway!

You should be fine then - an appraisal on your vehicle may write it off though?

Good luck with it fella.

Write up notes NOW, with dates, times what witnesses said, and their details, whilst it is fresh in your mind.

Notify the police, and your insurance company if you haven't already.

Shame about the car.

Based some advice from a mate who's an assessor, I'd have a frank discussion with the assessor when he comes to look at the car, explain you would prefer it weren't written off as long as you can agree an acceptable pay out for you to fix the damage yourself.

Call Mike Chandler of http://www.europaconsultants.co.uk/.

They will remove all the hassle of this claim from you - they make your life SOOO much easier and Mike is a top bloke.

I had an accident a little while back which was someone else's fault. These guys sorted the 'blame' out and then the claim followed by a hire car whilst the car was repaired (my car was still drivable).

Seriously, forget your insurance, these guys will cause you much less hassle.

After having dealt with an insurance company for something else, these guys are the way forward.

They don't charge you a penny either.

Cheers

If you are serious about having the car back and it is borderline write off you can consider contract repair so the insurers "fix" their outgoings and you avoid a Cat status on your car. As it looks like it was the other drivers fault they should be more generous on the value of your car, make sure you get a replacement car that they have to pay for winkthis too will provide greater leverage.

Waiting for calls back from assessors, etc etc now. Done my bit or most of it.

Sadly now it all comes down to money, will have to see when the assessor comes.

I take it I have to have a report from A&E to do anything about my neck pain? It's worse today than yesterday.

I used this chap when a half asleep HGV driver nudged the rear of my car in a traffic jam.

It made the whole process simple as you like, and it costs you nowt.

Go and see your GP. And a bit of stiffness is expected, just don't go extracting the urine for a PI claim, we all pay for that.

Try and get the car written off then buy it back . Probably best way if you really want the car back and do a good job at fixing it . However it will be a cat c/d

I'd at least give it a week or so before seeing a GP. I've been involved in a couple of fairly low speed accidents and my neck has been stiff for a few days but then it has disappeared. If it really isn't going away, that is when you need to speak to a GP and check you don't have long term damage.

You'll understand the cynicism to your question because there are a lot of people who view accident PI claims as some sort of minor lottery win and we all pay for it in the long run.

I cant offer much in the way of advice but when I had my accident a couple of months ago, Adrian Flux were a pleasure to deal with and everything was sorted pretty quickly. Less complicated claim though, my fault, I was the only party involved. loss of pride and my mx-5 causing more pain than my inevitable premium increase come renewal.

Mum got rear-ended in our shed Civic a few years back. She was stopped waiting fora car to turn right, and a girl slammed into her back end doing 50-odd mph. She was texting at the time, and didn't see the line of traffic...

She needed to see a specialist for a few months because of her neck. If yours was as serious, you may want to consider getting properly looked at. The human body isn't really designed to go above 10mph or so naturally, so impacts at speeds above that may have pretty nasty repercussions.

Surely that was a lot less than 50 mph impact? If it was at that sort of speed the car has held up staggeringly well.

Hope your mum is on the mend.
