Getting what you pay for
Discussion
I bought a car recently, will leave the dealer out of this for now as I am not sure where "blame" lies.
Anyway the sales guy told me it was fitted with brand 'x' tyre (by email in fact)
I picked it up, and to be honest I did not check every detail of the car was as he said as this is a main dealer of a major manufacturer.
Turns out the car has not got brand 'x' tyres, it has in fact got brand 'y' track day tyres.
I mentioned this to them and they pretty much told me to sod off as the tyres on the car are within their "used car guidelines".
I do not feel quite the same, for example I would not expect a track day tyre to perform the same in the wet or the British Winter weather as a normal high performance tyre?
Would appreciate everyone's thoughts on this - clearly in an ideal world I would have checked every single cm of the car when I picked it up - but who actually does that?
Does the fact that I signed for the car absolve them from this mistake legally?
I did speak to the manufacturer also, and they said "it had got absolutely nothing to do with us" (if you are old enough to remember Thats Life!).
Not sure where to go from here?
