Reading the topic about the 'new' Jensen Interceptor S got me thinking. The company who makes the bodyshells Gama Motorsport also do V8 conversions for an BMW E30 3-Series. I would love an E30 Touring with the V8 conversion and M3 blistered wheelarches. I just think it would look and go fantastically. Has anyone ever done an E30 Touring like this before?

Sure, cheap as chips. This one didn't sell for under a grand.

E30 is easy, with all BMW V8s - M60, M62 and S60
E36 is a massive problem due to an oil sump being too low to clear a steering rack. You have three options then - an Alpina sump for ££££, a dry sump for ££££ or lift the engine up and don't shut the bonnet for free smile

Of course it would have a BMW V8. Preferably from an E39 M5 or an E90 M3.

D'oh! My apologies gents. Original post has now been edited to say E90 not E30.

Love the idea of an E30 touring with the M3 flared arches, have always thought the E30 touring to be one of the best looking estate cars produced.

Even just with a 330 engine & 6 speed box fitted it would be a formidable thing to surprise people with.

Well, I'm sure that one day somebody will do it just for the sake of it.

There are many problems - the price of said engine, the availability, the fact that it won't even start without having stloads of different sensors fitted which are not to be found in an E30, the whole complexity of the build from electronic point of view.

What's the point when you can buy a whole E39 M5 for few grand and just swap the S62 having the same sound, same power for much less.
Or even LS1,2 or 3.

Someone has already dropped in the S85 V10 from the E60 M5 into an E30...
