Finding our a car's reg

Anyone know how I can find the reg of a car I have bought. I have the VIN number, but to apply for a replacement V5 I need the registration.

Just checked, not there Neither are the wings, doors, glass and so on ...

Just a shell at the moment so nothing on it to id, no glass to check for VRM etched in there. Back panel rusty, so I can't make out reg plate letters that may have been left by dirt over time etc.

fill in a v62 - you don't have to put the registration plate in to get one.

If in doubt, ring the DVLA to confirm first, but I have done this in the past and recieved a v5 quite nicely.

Brill, wasn't sure if reg was mandatory on the form.
