Day Insurance - grp19 car?

Trying to get day insurance on a Corrado VR6, which is group 19 and older than 15 years, and all companies are rejecting me based on one of those criteria.

Does anyone know of any that will do short-term cover? Tried all the companies Google suggest, but it appears all links come back to only two actual underwriters.

Alternatively, as I've got my own insurance on my Alfa, can I drive the Corrado back (using the 'driving other cars' clause, TPF&T) as long as the person I'm buying from keeps his insurance active? Or is that once he's signed it over to me, his insurance is no longer valid with him not being the legal owner, so my "drive other cars" clause ceases to be valid also??

Any suggestions?

why don't you call your insurance company and ask if they will add the corado as a temporary car for a week...most normally do, when you buy a new car and are trying to sell the old one.

IF you have the driving other cars extension, that will only apply to cars not belonging to you.

As said, get it added to the existing policy.

If you're very serious about the car it may be easier to ask the seller to add you (you can offer to pay in advance to cover it). The owner of one of the TVRs I looked at before I bought mine a few years ago found they could add me (under 25 at the time too...) onto their insurance for the day for no extra charge at all.

It is difficult though. I sympathise with the people who ask for comprehensive insurance for test drives, but it can be virtually impossible on a specialist car, even for an older driver.

The other option - again if you're very serious - is to take out a policy on it and cancel it if you don't go ahead.
