Heads up - Halfords toolkits 1/2 price

The 150pc socket sets are down to £99.99 again - I have no affiliation, other than having broken a few bits through horrendously inappropriate use - leading me nicely onto this review...

"I treated myself to this socket set for Xmas. Boxing day, after several pints of Mild down the pub and a game of darts I broke down on the way home - the steering wheel blew out the window resulting in me flying through a hedge. Thankfully I had the new purchase on board!. So me and the wife set about reparing the motor. I took the 3/8 drive to the 32mm nut and it didn't touch it. my wife the passed me a 2' scafffold pole that I gently slided over the drive and it only snapped the drive in two. Totally ruined xmas. we had to spend the night in the car listening to a nagging woman. Total rubish, set fire to the rest of the socket set."

cheap tools are a no no to me. looks like a good deal, but if you buy better eqiv. then they will last frver.

If they're from the Halfords Professional range then they have a life time warranty right?

Halfords socket sets are rebranded Draper Expert. Have both (Halfords are metric, Draper are Imperial), and both have been fine, even in use for heavy-duty tractor type repairs.

That and they're actually half decent, even as pro tools go

Yes, though I did buy one socket wrench that I had to replace several times within a couple of weeks before just asking for a refund as I couldn't use it for anything without it breaking!

Hopefully they just had a duff batch in.
