Lost the keys to my shed Saab

I've expertly managed to lose my Saab keys. These days it's basically worthless and I was about to advertise it for sale for parts but I need to move it from where it is. It's not immobilised (I think) as the fob to switch on the alarm/immobiliser was lost many moons ago. Am I right in thinking if I hammer something into the ignition that I can get a bar on, and turn it, it'll start and the steering lock will be released? It's a Saab 9000 Aero.

I can't think of any logical reason why not but I'm not really sure about the steering lock.

If you're breaking for parts I'd be interested in the wheels, if they're Aeros?

They are, but they're a bit scuffed and not in great nick to be honest. Once I've got the lock issue sorted I'll take some pics and send you a PM.

If you are breaking it anyway and you know you've always wanted to try it! Hot-wire it!!!

Had to do it to my old Golf after some scrote ripped off the ignition barrel. Figured it out eventually, I did it wrong initially and couldn't get the starter to stop turning!

It's a '93 and I'm pretty sure there's no transponder in the key. I'll have to give the AA a bell and see what they say. There's no huge rush to move it; it's parked on the road and the tax runs out at the end of the month.

Haha, I'm tempted - I got to live out my car thief fantasies on my old Supra when the aftermarket immobiliser died. It was depressingly easy to bypass!

Whereabouts are you based? I'm in no rush anyway, but I quite fancy some for my CSE.

I had the exact same problem with my 9000 Aero after having my jacket nicked with my keys in the pocket. There are ways around it, don't despair.

Saab will cut you a key from the chassis number for about £12 Although mine worked the doors but not the ignition.

I then bought a new lock set from a uksaabs member for approx £30

This will sort the locks, does yuours have the alarm/immobiliser?
