European petrol prices in practice on the latest tour

I've just had the bills in for the latest foreign trip,
which I thought I'd share with you.

Prices in GBP per litre for 98-102 Oktane
for various tankfulls along the way.

LU 1.03
AT 1.18
BE 1.25
DE 1.33,1.30

So Lux cheapest of the lot, Germany most expensive.
Austria not that different to UK prices and Belgium
a bit more expensive than UK.

I forgot my golden rule in Germany of avoiding
visiting ARAL stations, hence the £1.33. Phew !

Lux well worth visiting, especially when there's £18
a tankfull to be saved.

Mind you, 141 mph GPS verified on the way out and
150 mph on the way back, so it does seem clear
I had the handbrake off ;->

I hope my numbers help you budget your next foreign trip.

You even got all the countries I'm going to, barring France. I wonder if I can touch 150... it'll be close.

Switzerland was also around 1.03 per litre when we visited at the start of July

I passed through France, but didn't fill up there.

I think if you are taking your 2.0 litre Audi, you
won't be reaching 150 mph.

130 mph maybe, so be prepared for the faster stuff
to be wanting to pass.

Lane discipline matters.

It's already done 147 on the GPS.. which is actually what the Owners' manual claims, oddly.

Pretty familiar with rechtsfahren anwyay.

I managed an indicated 245 kph this time last year on the autobahn in my S2000 before approaching traffic. If you get any opportunity to test your top speed take it as I found I only had a few chances on the autobahn due to traffic.

I'll be entering Germany at about 4am. I think that might help?

Even at that time in the morning there will probably be traffic, knowing my luck.
