..any longer, but it occurred to me I have ticked a few personal motoring 'boxes' for a little over 2 grand with the cars below.Imho, that's quite a result, so I snapped a pic of them together for you to look at (after a bit of a clean) and wondered what I would replace them with if the time comes and what others would consider or have possibly purchased.

Given a 2k-ish budget, which two vehicles would be on your list? The same, similar, nothing like it? It's all personal choice, I know.Maybe the famous MX is the only way to go, so one of those and an astra van would do? But maybe some would have a bike or quad? Just curious really..

I'd have a Focus Estate for the boring stuff and an MX-5 or an MR-2 as a toy.

Yep diesel focus estate for the practical stuff and the MX5 for everything else.

Combined purchase price £1500.

Don't think the pleasure of owning something more expensive would help me stomach the depreciation.

Not long bought a P reg derv Vectra estate for £350. I've done 1300 miles or so. It doesn't use any oil or water & it's doing 50mpg. If it lasts untill Xmas, it will have paid for itself in fuel savings alone.

1st car in 2001 cost £2750
2nd car in 2002 cost £1800
3rd car in 2005 cost £900
4th car in 2006 cost £1600

never spend much on any except for tyres, oil, MoT.

I aim to spend under £500 on the next one, and have under 50k miles.
