Things to do around Nurburgring?

They've developed the area around the GP circuit quite a lot now. There's a museum which is interesting, a casino and a promenade with shops on (Aston Martin, Ferrari mechandise etc). Across the road there are some restaurants and bars.
Whenever I've worked at the GP circuit there have been groups of guided tours going around but I'm not sure about how interesting this is.
There is a network of mountain bike tracks around the Nordschliefe if you're into that.
Otherwise it's a beatiful area and pretty relaxed so it's nice just to hang out in the old towns and eat and drink.
Cologne is less than an hour and there's plenty to do here, it's a fantastic city.

Plenty of good driving roads through the Eifel Mountains. TBH, it's a very pretty area with some historic towns nearby if that's your thing. The 'Ring museum is pretty decent. Your have plenty to do - make sure you go to the Steak resturant at the back of the track in Nurberg - just ask someone where the steak on a stone place is It's me and the old man going in his 928, should be a bonnie trip!
Also check out all the viewing points on the track - so many good places to check out / lots of exploring is normally worth it !

ks, just a load of over priced merchandise. I spent most free time during the day either queuing for the track or watching the track action at the various viewing points.
Evening time was spent drinking some of the local beer and eating at the good but few restaurants in nurburg (surprisingly reasonably priced), whilst staring at the exotic cars parked up or passing by.
Great place.

Cheers people, just left the Ring this morning after a great evening last night in Nurburg. I only did one lap however, I always planned to only do one and thought best not tempt fate by doing lap after lap, trying to get faster everytime.
It was an evening session so was very quiet, minimal traffic and some very interesting metal, which suited us! One feller in a blue M5 had us laughing as he drifted past us near Pflantzgarten, clearly a local!
Judging by the clock next to the entrance barriers we went round in about 12 minutes, we were happy with for a first attempt!
Pistonklause was a great restaurant to eat in! Almost wished we had booked a room there! Only reservation was because it was such a quiet session, the local area and our hotel were very quiet that night. I can imagine Nurburg looks like Casino Square on some nights!
