I favour right arm on the door, left arm on the armrest. Steer with whatever reaches the wheel at the time. Comfort before saftey for me.

Depends. I'll fidget between both hands on wheel, one on the window, or fiddling with the radio, depending on the conditions. Usually I have a hand on the gearstick because my car has so little torque.

Right arm on door for long steady driving. Seat-back one wind forward and quarter to three for my favourite on/off ramps and windy bits.

I know a few positions, but none I can use while driving.

Quarter to three. That means my inputs are balanced. If you use 10 to 2 then as you steer you "fall" from side to side with a non linear ip/op relationship, whereas quarter to three means the "up" push from one hand is exactly the same as the "down" push from the other throughout wheel movement.
