The agony of choice!!! (A car choice conundrum)....

Hello all, well am due back to the UK in a few months after another 6 months away and have a bit of money stashed away, also due a good pay rise in work so am thinking of getting myself a new 'toy' for the weekends.
Have owned a fair few fast cars before and am now nearly 38 years old (and I feel it!)
Now it will have to fulfill the following criteria:
a. Cost no more than £40K (could possibly stretch to £45K), but would rather spend less than £40K obviously!
b. Be drivable by the wife (as am away for another 6 months next year!).
c. Be usable on track days.
d. Will do about 5000mpa.
e. Be an 'occasion' to drive.
Now I have been thinking of the following:
VX220 Turbo (modded up to about 300bhp)
Honda Elise
Noble M12
TVR Tuscan (have had a Cerbera and a Chimeara previously)
911 Turbo (996 model)
F355
F360
Nissan GTR
Now the F355 and F360 are right at the top level of my budget, as the running costs are obviously a lot more but still manageable. Obviously the wife is pushing towards the Fezzas!!!
What do you lot think?

My word exactly. All the cars from your list except for 996 (probably) are tricky to drive.I would go for true modern classics - the F355. It will hold it's value well and should be awesome to drive. Never driven it, but many say that it's much more safe as well as interesting to drive than 360. Had a go in 360 a few years back and it was scary to drive on wet road.

out of all those i would choose either the Tuscan or Noble M12
Both have plenty of power, both can be had for well under £40k, both are an event to drive, both have enough power to make them fast above 100mph, both will require love to keep them going.
I wouldnt fancy a punt on a £45k F360 tbh. Least with spending less on the noble and tuscan you will leave some spare money in the pot for fixing it/getting it working.
But i suppose if you want the 360, and you know youre finances more then anyone, then get one of those. Just as long as it works most of the time it kicks everything else into touch by a long long way!

The car I would want to stick a similar amount of money into if I had it would be on of these, this is at the top of your budget but there are plenty of others around for a lot less.

...or maybe you are a candidate for a 2-car solution with a Caterham plus a.n.o. (or even to hire cars for track days)?
