Is Derbyshire Now A 50mph County?

North Derbyshire has been infested with 50s for ages.
Causing all sorts of trouble.
Take the A623 Calver > Stoney Middleton > Sparrowpit. I've known the road for 40 years and never seen an accident or near miss, until the limit was downgraded.
During the subsequent 18 months, I witnessed three near head on collisions and one actual side-swipe as people overtook lorries. Lots of lorries use that road, all unaffected by the new limit. Seems that people who know the road and try to overtake where they're used to overtaking, whilst sticking to 50, are exposed on the wrong side for longer and get the judgement of speed and distance wrong.
Then there are the bods who get bored with the unnaturally low limit and start to gaze at the scenery, then have a moment when the car in front brakes for a sheep.
Then there's the soporific effect of an unnaturally low limit. TRL says 20% of injury accidents are caused by fatigue. These roads cause fatigue.
Bit of a contradiction there, but don't expect a Labour led review of speed limits to take any notice of that.

Reason was so they could stick the talivan out and generate a bit of revenue, perfectly safe places in Derbyshire to do more than the NSL that are now 50's, other places 50 would be f***ing stupid but that’s what the sign says so the muppets try it at that speed.
Other class signs are the "X accidents in 5 years", they just don’t tell you when that 5 year period started, the same signs have been up for at least the last 4 years.

Every time I visit Derbyshire I end up wondering why it's seen as "dangerous" to exceed 50mph on arrow-straight stretches of A-road but they seem to have no problem with people screaming down country lanes at NSL.
Some of the 50mph sections really are utterly stupid... the A52 heading out of Ashbourne being a prime example, where they even see fit to apply a 50mph limit to a stretch which has a climbing lane!
