Why not just get some roof bars, box and a bike mount? £2-300 will get you that lot and once setup, take minutes to fit and take off.

It's what I did rather than trying to find a car that doesn't exist.

Given that your first listed requirement is "as new as possible" what about one of the cheap and nasty korean things? Might not satisfy the reliability aspect but by the time you've, sorry your friend, has haggled down to £3000 you can have seven seats of awesomeness in the form of a 2002 Kia Sedona diesel.
