Car insurance woes...

Honestly, is it any wonder people drive without insurance these days?

Ive got a 318i touring from 2002 which costs me about 600 a year to insure.

As a bit of a play thing, i was looking at getting an old discovery, not even the big v8 either, just a diesel to maybe potter around the countryside and spend a bit of time working on.

Just got a quote from my current insurers for £700, third party only, 3000 miles a year with 4 years no claims and a clean licence held for 6 years!

Honestly, what the hell is that all about? The car itself is only worth 500 notes.... Grrrr :@

Depends how old, history and where you live. It pisses me off that the VED is 1.5 time my insurance.

check the fully comp price, my omega v6 is ~ £100 cheaper fully comp vs 3rd party. Also add a woman as a second driver, that saved me a further £50.

Sounds like you live in an expensive insurance area.... in January I paid £600 for my e46 318i and I'm 20 years old.

I think there are some companies that specialise in old land rovers, one of my friends insured a diesel defender (age of 23) for around £130 fully comp.

Also, an old Disco has the potential to do a lot of panel re-shaping on any car it comes into contact with.
