New Z4.....Boxster......370Z GT ...... or....
Which one? I have driven the new Z4 and the 3.2S 987 Boxster, but not the 370Z. The Boxster is clearly the 'drivers' choice, being a Porka and with the handling and performance pedigree that brings. The inside if the new Z4 is a fabulous place to be, it feels much more special than the Pork in aesthetic terms. The 370Z seems to be much more 'in yer face', it's a very sporty Datsun (looks like a lot of plastic in the cockpit) and it is probably tres expensive to run.
What else is there for a daily driver roadster? Please help, my mid-life crisis is about to begin!

What is your criteria ? An Elise would be well worth a look, esp if you want something genuinely sporty, or a Merc SLK if you want a nice wafty car, you need to tell us more about what you want from the car before you get any sensible suggestions

Not a fan of the 370Z personally; they're somewhat agricultural, but lack the character of something like a TVR.
Z4 looks good paper.

That is my big concern about the Boxster. I spent two hours in an OPC last week looking at some very enticing cars, however OPC prices are hugely OTT even with their two year warranty. Add to that servicing prices and it makes the Z4 look cheap in comparison, particularly with the £300 service inclusive deal. Edited by mercGLowner on Sunday 15th August 16:56
The Z4's the best looking by far in my opinion, but from all the reviews it seems that it's a cruiser, not a sports car. 1.5 tonnes and set up to understeer allegedly.
The big Nissan is, err, big. 1.5 tonnes and really feels it imho.
The Boxster is by far the best to drive, and the only downside is the stupid variable ratio steering and slightly dull looks, but in my opinion sports cars are about the drive, not the looks, which is why it would be my choice.

Some interesting points, thanks. The option of a US muscle car does not appeal I'm afraid, even though I have never driven one. My eyes are drawn to the Z, it looks very appealing, aggressive and the stats are impressive. Having seen pictures, the interior doesn't match the Beemer. The Boxster, well, I was sorely tempted by an 'S' that is still for sale at JCT600 Audi in York - PCM, Xenons, heated seats, 19" sport design alloys http://www.jct600.co.uk/brand/Porsche/used-cars/Bo... .....BUT...... the Z4 keeps drawing me in. I drove one last week, an M Sport 23i, the practicality of a tin top and a roadster is a massive plus. The Boxster would be £10K cheaper, but it is 5 years old and you never know what might be around the corner.
