Prototype car colour?

Why do manufacturers always paint their prototype cars in the horrible black/silver camo style?

eg:

Or something similar.

I think it's to break up the actual lines of the car so it's hard to tell what it will finally look like.

I can't really see the point in it. Once a car has reached the final stages of development it's not as if a rival could copy the design and get it to market before the original.

It's more so that magazines/websites can't show pictures of a 'finished' car prior to the official launch.
