Help with choosing tyres....

Hi guys,

I'm in a quandry ....

(Please talk to me like i'm a 10 yr old kid - my knowledge of tyres is zero!)

I have just bought some 20" Alloys for my T5 Transporter.

Normally i just buy whatever tyres my local tyre supplier recommends, i had 4 bridgestones put on my Mondeo ST last year and 14,000 miles later they two fronts needed replacing. I was told by the MOT station that bridgestones are too soft for a front wheel drive car with decent torque... i need harder rubber.

This is all a different language to me and so i was hoping to come here and find an unbiased opinion.

Back to the T5. The tyres i need are 255/40/20. I want the best value for money. I been quoted £1,000 for michellin's. I don't mind spending this if that is value for money - but is it?

Other quotes are.... Continental's £920.00 - Pirelli £700.00 - Toyo £625 - Hankook £500 - Wanli £330.

My T5 isn't a works vehicle and i'm it's only driver, i will be doing around 15,000 a year and about 50% of that will be motorway.
