M4/M25 road bump

Hi,

I was on my way to the eurotunnel last friday, heading east on the M4 and south on the M25, when i hit a particularly bad line in the road on the M4/M25 junction. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this?

I was travelling ~40mph in a queue of traffic when i hit the bump, the car jolted sharply and i hit my head against the damn roof. My CD stopped, and has thrown a read error ever since. I figure the jolt has damaged the laser or arm in some way, similar to how it would a hard drive. Great. That's a £300 CD player now useless.

My car is low and was loaded up for the trip which will have lowered it further, i accept that. I'd put on softer koni shock absorbers the week before to help on our roads, and despite all the knocks and bumps on the harder bilsten suspension, which had been on for a couple of years, i have never damaged anything on the car quite to this level.

I can't quite believe such a sharp bump can be on what must be one of the busiest junctions in the country. I may as well have hit a brick.

That's a horrible bump, and there's no way of avoiding it as it goes right the way acrodd the road. It always makes me wince too. Hope the damage isn't too bad.

That bump(on both sides of the M25) has been there for years - I'm sure they had a speed restiction for "bumpy road surface" a few weeks ago.

The speed restriction is back and its 2 huge bumps.

After all the money thats been thrown at that stretch of road it's a fking disgrace.
Same goes for the repeated dips along the clockwise section junc 12 - 14 in outside lane.
It's only a matter of time before this road condition results in a serious incident
if it hasn't already.

There's a large bump in the fast lane of the M20 coast bound, just before you crest the hill before junction 8. If the suspension bottoms out, you're gonna be taking off!

It's a form of differential settlement with regards to the bridge foundations, and happens to a degree on most bridges. Although this is one of the most severe that I'm aware of.

It's not just those bumps (which are bad enough) but has anyone experienced the multiple mini sink holes on the clockwise side approaching the T5 turn off? They're evenly spaced and run for a mile or so on the O/S of lane 5. I suspect subsidence of drain joints as they are equi-distant between the grates.

They're severe enough to cause the Tuscan to bump steer (though not the Golf) and I wouldn't be surprised if they've caused an accident or two.

Yes, I've noticed them several times, they make a big thumping noise on my stiffly strung but generously tyred car so would likely do some proper damage to someone with rubber band tyres.

I agree about the outside lane near the T5 turn off. They started off as mildly annoying, now they seem to turning into full on potholes

It won't be long before they start causing wheel/tyre damage, and lead to an accident

Yup, use the same route for my daily commute and that hole/bump is huge.

Is there anyway to report it? It's been there for a good year or so.

Is this the filter from the M4 onto the M25? That bump has been there in varies incarnations for well over a decade. I nearly tore the spitter off the Sag on it a few months ago...
