How often do we get pigeon strike

One landed on the road directly in front of me a few weeks ago. Rather than brake I decided to drive over the top of it, one wheel each side. "I am a genius!" I think to myself as I go over the top of it, without it moving, until I look in the mirror and see a comedy style puff of feathers.

I managed to hit one last week. It was in the road with its mate and the pigeon with some brains flew off while the other took off heading straight for my windscreen. I thought it was going to come through it.
I have however been outdone by my dad who hit a Herron on the A74(M) a few years back in his Volvo. The amount of feathers that came off it was quite an amazing sight....cleaning the car was not.

I live in possibly the Game capital of the UK.
Pigeons are stupid as feck. They will sit there, sometimes watching your approach, and then at the last second take fight. You can usually get it right when they get their timing wrong, but only if you can see that the opposite side of the road is clear to use if required. Sometimes you can have the semi humour of 'parking' one. It takes off in your direction of travel and gets just enough height to result in a slap on the arse from the windscreen and 40mph acceleration into flight. Most survive, somewhat bemused.
Woodcock are usually fast and safe.
Pheasants. Bane of the early morning driver, stupid AND suicidal. Quite difficult to avoid but usually will continue in the direction they are facing. This will give you the opportunity of avoiding them, but sometimes you will see the dread of a sudden u-turn or freeze at the last second as you pray for a glancing blow...
Ducks. These will take flight swiftly and cause you little bother. If you hit one it was most likely the aquatic bird life version of SBC.
Badgers. About the size of Staffie, but one that has been on the 'roids a bit too long. Come out at night and don't really like to wander onto the highway other than to get from A to B. Will bend chassis rails if struck at sufficient velocity. It is suggested that you do not hit these.
Rabbits. If they are on the edge of the road then you really should at least give them as much room as you reasonably can. If they are running across the road just carry on (unless the loss of traction might be an issue) lady luck will be upon them that day or not as if you don't get them with the fronts the rears will finish the job if you even bother swerving. In fact you are more likely to come close to a mishap yourself. Once in a lifetime you may be presented with a carpet of bunnies turn round or try to think of things you can do for the rest of the day to redress the bad karma.
Deer. Yes it's small but if you now think that hitting a badger is a bad idea, try getting 4 badgers, painting them fawn and gaffer taping them together. Hitting one of these at speed is known for sending more than just cars to the bodyshop. Short of a tree or oncoming vehicle hitting almost anything else is preferable.

Cows. Apparently if you hit a cow at speed in a Nova a few things happen.A)The roof peels back
B)The cow will get scared and poo all over the bonnet and further
C)The Cow will kick you in the face when getting off the car
D)It's friends will all come over to see what's going on
I'm just glad I wasn't there myself!
