Is this a scam to obtain ID? Because there are no bank details there. I reckon if you made up a silly fake ID then the worse you could expect is a knock on the door from HM Revenue and Customs asking why your name is on a parcel of drugs/money/guns/diamonds/bombs/anthrax.
If it arrives and he never contacts you again then you must A: Photograph the box and electronic gadget with a tin of custard for us. And B: sell the box on ebay as an "unopened box".
Oh and take the Captain up the oxo tower in an mx5 yada yada.
