Just got an SP30 rofl

Doing 55 in a 50 which was until recently a NSL - she now has to go on a 'Speed Awareness Course'. After over 60 years of driving in the UK, Japan and India, she's very good behind the wheel. That little foible has cost me £200 too - I was going to put her on the insurance for my new car tomorrow, but it only increases it now! Grrrr!

Correct me if I'm wrong but a speed awareness course is intended to avoid points and any knock on additional cost in insurance isn't it? I was under the impression that the course is none declarable to insurers so that £200 may not have to be spent.

When I got my quote for my ST220 I tried to add my Dad as a named driver to reduce the premium - and they wanted a declaration of any offences in the last 5 years (even after they drop off the licence) regardless of whether or not points were given. rolleyes

I may not be feeling all that well at the moment but as far as I am aware 55 is safely within 10%+2 of 50 and really should not have got a ticket. Correct me if I am wrong.

10% +2 is ACPO guidlines only, they can prosecute for 1mph over if they want.

The speed awareness course is in all cases I've ever heard come as an alternative to point on your license
