getting scratches off windscreen

Have tried to use the search function, but it seems to be broken these days.

So - does anyone know of anyone I can use to get some scratches off my windscreen, caused by dirt under a sponge (I think). I live in central London.

Don't know if it's covered under my insurance yet, but I don't necessarily want to go via that route right now as through bad luck I've had two new screens in two years, and I'm worried about my premium.

If they are very light scratches then toothpaste.Tesco value at 17p is very good...

Smear on windscreen using a 1x1 piece of timber,then rub it in the scratch.

Obviously depends on how deep it is!

cerium oxide and/or jewellers rouge and a heck of a lot of elbow grease.. available from jewellery suppliers and geology shops for cheap.

I have used Solvol Autosol to remove fine scratches from car glass.
However, there are kits available, so google "glass scratch removal kit".

Cheers for the advice everyone. Some googling to do tomorrow, but does anyone know of anyone who'll come out and do it? It's not so much that I'm lazy. More that I'm worried about ruining the windscreen and then being obliged to pay out several hundred for a replacement
