Tyre insurance

Having had 2 punctures in 6 months on both of my rear tyres I have decided to look into tyre insurance. I've done the usual Google search but am keen to hear from others first hand experience of such an insurance.
What to look for, any pitfalls etc. would be good to know.

I've not heard a lot about them, but what I've heard indicates they're very hard to actually claim on.

As above, unless you live / work in a really bad industrial estate you've just been unlucky.

+ if you carried on getting punctures they would refuse to cover you after a couple of claims!

"Regression to mean" implies that you now definitely don't need tyre insurance . On the other hand if you had had no punctures for 15 years, i would recommend buying it!

Bleedin ell, they'll insure anything nowadays.

At the moment I'm most impressed with insurance companies offering a policy to insure your excess. Insurance for your insurance. Brilliant!

Looked into it recently, initially seemed like a great deal- but then I went into the small print.

Didnt cover the total cost of the tyre
Didnt cover a tyre with less than 3mm tread
Seemed like a lot of effort to actually claim and get them to pay out (From talking to people who paid for and used the insurance)

As another poster said; you've had 2 punctures recently.. seems unlikely you'll have another any time soon.
