hi all... basically my dad's just bought a Fiat Brava for £450 off ebay to use as a runner as he's working 80 miles away for the next 10 weeks so doesn't feel like putting 10,000 miles (and the 30mpg) on the C70T5...
anyhow, the guy is selling on behalf of his mate who owns a dealership; and quite clearly in the window the car is listed up as £1295 and honestly the car is probably worth a bit more than we paid for it; so i can imagine he is annoyed at the price it went for...
he clearly puts "must collect in 24 hours" on the ad; but when we called earlier the bloke seemed quite defensive and not too keen for us to come collect it today, and we can't collect it tomorrow... now we are trying to call him (been waiting on a call back from him for a good few hours now) but can't even get through to voicemail...
i wouldn't mind if he said "i messed up and forgot to put a reserve on her and really don't want to sell at that price", fair enough we all cock up and i would forget about it and look for another runner; but turning your phone off...
so, what would my fellow PHeaders do?

that's what i mean, i would rather the bloke was honest and said he didn't want to sell at that price; that would be the end of it (maybe a neutral feedback on ebay 
) but turning your phone off...also said he needed to drive it home... seems weird for a dealer to be doing that...

I had a similar experience on eBay last week, although on a much smaller scale. I bid on a hard-disk in the last 60 seconds and somehow won it for £0.99 plus postage - usually these disks go for about £10 and there was no reserve on this particular auction. The seller then e-mailed me saying he'd just tested it after the auction finished and discovered that it didn't work, and that he was going to give me a refund. I'm pretty sure he just used that as an excuse because it sold for less than he was hoping for. Even if this wasn't the case, he should have tested the product before posting the ad on eBay (the ad stated that it was used but in working condition). I've just taken the refund and moved on, because there's nothing I can do and it's only £0.99 in the end. Still deciding what feedback I should give.
In your case however, you shouldn't have much of a problem getting it resolved. Did the guy have a good feedback score?

Is it worth just forgetting it and start looking for another runner? A bit of a worry I suppose as winning bidder, you might end up with two runners if the dealer contacts you after you've already got something else and wants to hold you to contract, but if it really has sold for half price it might be an option to sell it on for what it's really worth, thus using the profit to help fund the runner that actually ends up getting used.
Or you could just end up with a surplus car that you can't get rid of.

As annoying as it is to you, he obviously isn't happy with the price it sold for and wont sell it to you. If you're that bothered, get ebay involved and leave some nasty feedback.
