Yet another 458 destroyed by fire, what's going on here?

Guys, is this there any significance in the number of 458 that seem to be going up in flames. The fires that have occurred all appear to start in the same place, but I could be wrong?
Also a number of them seem to have been crashed. I am not sure what percentage of cars that have been supplied so far have ended up in this state but I would be interested to find out. Are these all diver error or is the car playing its part?
I know we have a few 458 owners on this site; I would be very interested to hear from them.
Is what we are seeing unusual, or to be expected for a car of this type? And how does what has happened so far compare to other super car launches in recent years? Let’s not forget the spate of Gallardo fires that happened a while ago.

I have no idea how many have been delivered so far, but it cant be many, but it must flash up a warning flag when three have gone up in flames in the same fashion, surely this should not be happening?
If a similar thing happened with a more mainstream car launch would not an enquiry have been started?

If that's the case, then I'd make sure I never parked my 458 in that place. Probably a jealous pyromaniac or something?Not exactly unusual for a freshly released Italian Supercar it has to be said. You'll find countless pictures of burnt out Murcielago's, Gallardo's, F430's, 599's, etc etc. if you do a search
I'd put it down to dodgy early (hand) build quality or high running temps from a performance machine combined with limited development budget compared to mainstream manufactuers

As others have suggested, I don't think there'd be much interest in a picture of a fire damaged VW Golf.
The fact that there are lots of pictures of melted supercars doesn't mean it happens more frequently, just that when it does, the pictures are more likely to appear in the public domain.

Hmmmm, so do you really think say 1 percent of all VW Golfs self-ignite every year? Must be a heck of a lot of car fires in the UK, then... Not necessarily. The F355s were also known to have an engine fire problem that was known to ferrari from the start of production.The recall was only made last year!!! Thats 15 years after they originally knew about the fuel distribution block fault that caused the fire.
Ferrari dont really give a flying f

It does sound like too much of a coincidence for a few of them to have gone up in flames. Such a shame. I wonder if a 458 was to blame for the recent fire at Heathrow, as apparently one was cooked there

Out of curiosity, in these circumstances where would Ferrari's liability end and the insurers take over with cars going up in flames? If your car burns to the floor obviously the insurance is the first port of call as the owner, but if Ferrari acknowledged a fault was causing it surely the insurers would be looking to recover costs? I'm guessing they're pretty well covered for these eventualities, I'm just curious

A friends 4 month old F430 Spider also had a fire in the engine bay and it was only his quick thinking that prevented the whole car from going up in flames. Still amounted to nearly a 5 figure repair bill. Another friend had lots of gearbox issues with his. They make stunning cars no doubt but the build quality still leaves alot to be desired I think.
