Afternoon All,
I'm after a little bit of advice.

I'm looking at getting a ford fiesta for winter, 2k type car. I've historically always been insured through my company, and as a result, I do not have a no claims bonus to speak of. I have however, not made a claim in 9 years of driving!

I got a quote of £800 3rd party F&T for a Fiesta 1.2. Which seems pretty silly since I pay £800 on a 360 spider through the business. The company insurance is £800 per vehicle, so no savings putting the Fiesta through the business.

Does anyone have any experience with something similar, what did they do to solve the problem? Any companies in particular you think I should try?

Could you go for a Mini and get it on a classic policy? Might be cheaper to insure a classic than a current car.

NCB's are not set in stone, insurance co's can pretty much add/remove as they please.

a collegue of mine got offered full 5 years NCB if he renewed.

what was odd was that this was 12 months after writing his car off.

where as i lost 4 years NCB because "directline dont record more than 5 years NCB's" apparnently

therefore ive been driving 13 years, without a claim, yet only have 9 years NCB

wkers.

It seems as though I might just have to bite the bullet. A friend suggested trying to go fully comp, as often there is very little in it, sometimes a lower premium choosing fully comp over 3rd party (no idea why, but on a £800 corsa it was).
Really annoyed about this. Seems very silly that a 2k car, costs nearly 50% of its value to insure, despite me having a clean history.

Are there really no insurance companies out there who value no claims built up through a company car? Anyone know why they don't?

A lot of companies will mirror company car ncb onto private policies.

Ring a few of the big ones up.

I insured a vx220 without using my no claims recently via cci including me (33) and the girlfriend (25) 5000 miles a year and 5 trackdays £370 quid so 800 seems very very steep. cci did take into account my no claims on other policy though
