yes i know its probably been post 17 times before, but the search function isnt working.

i live in a PR7 postcode, have done for 20 years or so. which is rated as D

the centre of preston is lower! its absolute nonesense.

obviously there some car crime and as many accidents as any other town but its not bloody gangland.

im nearly 32, 9 years NCB, clean licence and yet im still quoted crazy money for insurance on interesting cars.

my question is, does this list EVER get updated?

I moved recently from a B area to a C area but there was no increase in my premium so i guess they mustn't take it as gospal.

I recently moved from a C area to an A area (i.e. medium->low risk) and combined it with now parking on a drive instead of the road, and saw an increase of about £70. Annoying, but not very much compared to the total premium cost.

What you need to remember is regardless of what the website says about the risk rating of your address your insurance will be calculated on your insurers own claim statistics, so the website may say you live in the safest place in britain but if your insurer has experienced a high number of claims your premium will be higher.
But i suppose i could be usefull as a rough guide.

Looked at this before moving back down to London, was pretty depressing to read! Went from a B zone (S40) to E (W13) which resulted in a 50% rise. Hurts every month...

What does 'Refer' mean? That's mine, and those next to me are F. Great.

It seems my house is a 'C' and my business address is an 'A'.
Got a garage at the business too.
It my be practical to keep the car there.
Need to check the premium difference.

On a quick check for my 'C' rated home address versus my 'A' rated business address.
The quote was 15% higher for the 'A' rated property. Useless guide then.

It'll probably be cancelled out by the loading for keeping the car away from home - my bike policy is loaded as I have a 2nd garage on the policy 5 miles away from the house. (where my garage is already full....)

It was just a quick quote thing.
I didn't state it was away from the RK address.

I think some insurers must look at things in a more granular way than this list - ie. they consuider the second part of the postcode too.

My postcode (the first bit) covers a very big area and it's an E* - this covers where I am (which is moors, old stone cottages, farms, moors, really nice) through nice residential areas through council estate stholes.

IMO my insurance is peanuts for a group 50 car and a couple of litrebikes and a motocrosser.

According to that list in an E* I would need to have all the security in the world.
