Or have done in the past, foibles, faults, damage and Design Flaws on a car you just work around or put up with or have put up with in the past.

Currently our 500 has an epically bad gearchange, the Saab has a slow puncture and a tendency, like an angry wife to lock me out, get back to it and no ammount of plipping gets me in so I have to put the key in and set the alarm off, of and every now and again for a few days the clutch slips and the minute I decide to take it in, it sorts itself out !

The Galaxy occasionally conks out when cold, for the wife anyway, doesnt do it for me.

Other ones, my mums Marina back in the eighties (TC No less, the BL RS4 of its day biggrin), the choke didt lock so she had pegs in the cubby hole to hold the choke open, between 1 and three, maybe four pegs depending on the ambient temperature.

Capri Mk1, worrying tendency for the gearstick to come off in your hand.

Golf Mk1 GTI, momentary loss of all electrical power when passing the radar thing at Manchester airport, nowhere else !

Audi 100, on full bore acceleration, the PAS pump got overwhelmed and stopped providing assistance, a worrying combination of speed and no steering to speak of.

Golf MK2 GTI, constand leaks of water into the cabin, smelt like a pond but could not sort it, in summer it was like a mobile Mangrove swamp, one cold winter it filled with water froze and I lifted rear footwell shaped blocks of ice and it was dry for a while.

Smiler.

My fuel gauge has been bust for 6 months. Know how to fix it, but also know that I get 350 to a tank.

Seat Leon - steams up something chronic. Can only clear with a/c, but as soon as it's switched off it comes back twice as bad as before.
Dealer can't see any problem. No leaks or blockages.

A number of times last winter I had to scrape the ice from the INSIDE of the windscreen. Never had to do that before, not even on my £600 Peugeot 205.

The new Alfa shaped addition has intermittent hot starting problems. Not helpful at the petrol station, but it makes me smile every time I drive it, so who cares?

Lift up rear seat and re-solder wire to sender? Very easy if it's still the car in your profile

Peugeot 106 Rallye- Engine cuts out for a couple of seconds around 3,500rpm in 2nd or 3rd, then springs back to life and pretends nothing happened. Does this pretty much every-time I pull away from a junction/roundabout. Could be one of about 10 different things causing the fault, some of which are £60 each to replaced, so I just leave it.

Traction control on my Focus usually works quite gently, but occasionally it tries to kill me for no apparent reason.

Celica, needs a new battery, so every time you want to start it, you need to either jump it or leave it parked on a hill... Fortunately we live on a hill!

MX-5: 3 of the tyres losing air. I suspect they just need re-fitting but I can't be arsed.
GTV: embarrassingly loud, even more so when starting from cold redcardbiggrin. The noise is so intoxicating I now tend to leave it in a much lower gear than necessary, so it's drinks even more now paperbag
Chimaera: alarm problem/sticky relay that leaves one of the indicators on all the time when it does the double-flash when locking and unlocking. Cue lots of standing there repeatedly locking and unlocking the car until it goes out. The relay is buried deep inside the dash so we live with it.

Honda S2000

Noise from the clutch when backing off at low revs, quite common on older cars, new clutch would sort, but doesn't need one and not hurting. Also rattle from the soft top clips on the windscreen.

Same here - MX5 but only in the rain...and the drain holes are regularly cleared out!

I am quite shocked at some of the safety related items that people are "living with".

That is quite a common problem with Leon's if it is a Mk1 one, ie Mk4 Golf platform?

Have you got damp carpets anywhere?

Normal culprit is the pollen filter.

It'll only steam up if there's something wet in the car.

My Transporter has a high level oil indication light and it's flashed since day one when you start it, even after a service it's still the same, but I now just live with it, oil level is fine so I dunno what's wrong with it.

That and the bulkhead squeaks occasionally but it's a van afterall

Clutch judder, the Corsa appears to have had the wrong kind of friction plate fitted (by Vauxhall!) so when cold sometimes the car judders violently after a gearchange even if you use a fair few revs... Not really a bad thing just annoying on cold nights and mornings hehe
