Ferrari 458 Italia #11 is wrecked

This one was gutted by fire in China, making it 11 involved in crashes or blazes in three months and five in the past 11 days.

According to that article, this is the forth 458 to catch fire and that's not including the heathrow warehouse fire.

This from the Ferrari forum; it seems that Ferrari have acknowledged there's something amiss and they're following it up with actions, which can only be positive.

The numbers I have seen are about 300 world wide which sounds about right.

If was was waiting for my new 458 to be delivered I would be looking for assurances that this problem had been fixed before the car turns up. And if you owned one now would you be wary of driving it????

Ferrari needs to deal with this problem quickly or all the good reviews the 458 has gained could be swamped under an internet witch hunt

They are calling cars in to have a modified vapour vent unit fitted (this is something to do with the fuel system).

the crashes are due to driver's mistake/stupidity. I have seen some people with ferraris who really think the main roads are F1 tracks. The burning is unusual but every manufacturer out there has first production faulty cars. No one is perfect. But we still dont know if these are due to something faulty or not. I dont see anyone asking the owners of the burned cars what really happened.

I was refering to the burnt cars not the crashed ones. The problem with these situations is that its down to perception. Four 458's have gone up in quick sucession, whay are people likely to think?
