Driving experience day on an automatic licence.

Hi people, I wonder if you can help me with this. I think my Mrs would really like a driving experience as a present for her upcoming birthday in September. I’m worried her automatic only driving licence will make this difficult.

Does anyone know if anywhere specialises in automatic cars for this type of day? Does anyone have any suggestions as to which ‘day’ would offer her a chance to drive a couple of different cars under instruction?

Her licence allows her to drive anything without a clutch pedal, so I think the cars a flappy paddle gear box would be OK? Does anyone know if any of the single seater experience cars have flappy paddle or automatic gearboxes?

My fall back plan is a go karts and Buckmore park. Or hiring a classic car with a autobox (Thinking v8 stag etc), and go for a nice drive in the country.

We live in Kent, so Brands Hatch would be ideal. But I don’t mind travelling further. I can't find any events at Lyden Hill.

I would just go karting. If you shop around you can get a lot of track time for you money, and it's an awesome experience. Rather different to supercar driving day things, but you can jump in as a complete beginner and give it some stick, whereas a lot of these "experience days" want to protect the cars with imposed rev restrictions etc.

Everything at Palmersport bar the Caterhams and Land Rovers are automatic with paddles. Their evening programme has neither - but there's only one date left for this year.

Not come across any others - they tend to use Formula Ford type stuff, which is all manual. Otherwise I guess it would be supercars or similar to get autos.

How about one of Car Limits activity days at North Weald airfield that she can do in her own car?
