Advice sought on these warning lights...

It's a Z4.

Please do ignore the dust, I don't really have an excuse for that. Any convertible owner will appreciate how quickly it can build up.

Anyway, enough of that. It's happened twice now, the car doesn't get used all that much but the last two times I've taken it out, these two lights have popped up on the dashboard. No noticeable difference in the way it drives but the DSC is definitely not working when these lights are on. I tested it.

Turning the engine off and restarting gets rid of them and all systems seem to work once again. Weird.

Any ideas?

Something is making the DSC/ABS system unhappy and it has switched off.

Most likely an intermittently faulty ABS sensor on one of the wheels (not too bad a job), but plugging it into a computer will be required to diagnose the definite problem.

You might want to get underneath with a torch and look for any abraded wires at each wheel in case there's a loose connection somewhere?

Not sure what the red one in the bottom left corner is but the middle one is usually showing that the Handbrake is on, and the one on the right is showing that the TC is turned off. have a look through the handbook though because in BMW's different colours of the same symbol can mean a multitude of different things!

By the looks it is a brake fault, if you are lucky it is a loose wire on a sensor, if you are less lucky it a failure of the ABS module/pump.

1 Series has a known fault where the ABS/DSC ECU fails and needs replacing(expensive). In this case the lights stays on permanently. I don't know if the Z4 shares the same or similar ECU?

If your lights go out after switching the engine on and off suggests it might just be a sensor fault.

The "red" light in the bottom corner is actually the mileage display.

Quite possibly a yaw sensor failure, very common issue - do some googling for it

Please be a sensor fault. I can't be arsed spending any more money than is required on it since arrival of the 6.
