What have you sacrificed to feed your automotive cravings?

have you stayed in a smaller house rather than moved into something bigger so you can afford a better car? Missed a few holidays or worked overtime to save / pay the finance? Do you dread the bills?

I have done so in the past - lived in a cheaper area in order to generate more savings for a car fund. Just for a certain time only.

A deposit on a bedsit/flat or a car. (I couldn't afford both.)








I lived in my car for 6 months.. Never once regretted it

I'm guessing it wasn't an Elise or that old PH favourite, an MX5!

It was actually a Proton 1.5 triple valve aeroback in a fetching light green with contrasting st brown interior.

I miss that car tbh, Ive not known a car before, or since, that could take abuse like a Proton

I used to spend an obscene amount of money on clothes now I cringe at even spending more than £30!!

I hate my job but I've been thinking of going full time and asking for overtime to save for my next car .

I don't smoke, don't drink, only go on holiday in the UK, use Freeview, do my own jobs on the house... And I can still only just afford a 6-year-old Mondeo

Used to go out for a few drinks and a gamble on the bandits virtually every night, cut it down to once every couple of weeks so more money can be sunk into Alfas. Probably not as extreme as some on here though, who I'm sure have sacrificed houses, wives etc...

I've not been abroad in 10 years because I always spend my money on cars or the house. Going to change that next year though

A huge amount I spent more on motor racing last year than my mortgage (which incidentally is nearly a thousand pounds a month) and my food bills combined (breakfast, lunch and dinner every day). Obviously this means I can afford a house twice as big as the one I live in, or perhaps nicer food, but I choose motor racing instead. I can also afford some amazing holidays, or road cars on fact, but I choose motor racing. I've no idea how my girlfriend puts up with me
