I posted a while ago that i was getting a comedy C15 van, alas it's not to be, on closer inspection it was too doggy.

However to step into the breach as my new daily i have got myself a little saxo, 97 vintage i think with 90 odd k. It looks a real peach and has the posh spec, leccy windows etc. and is finished in silver.....and it's a 1.1..... it's got some rent till next year and as near as damn it a years MOT.

I'm temped to tidy it up, which to be honest won't take much, and sell it one, surely these things must fetch good money as first time cars? I got it through a mate in the trade so didn't pay very much for it...ergo...

What sort of MPG can you expect from them? (being driven sensibly, not Barry-esque)

I would say get around 45 - 50mpg driven carefully
Mate gets about 30 - 35mpg thrapping his to within an inch of its life
Terms of value his was on a Y same spec about 70k miles think he got 1k private for it but it was in very good condition and not barried at all so I would say you may get 700 for it maybe 750 on a good day.

Thats what i was thinking. Mine is totally unbarried, the last owner (i know it's a cliche) was an old lady. The car is totally standard and really does like tidy.

I think i might give her a bit of a valet if the bloody rain stops and have a dabble...

Yeah standard un-modified cars are fairly rare nowadays and many people still look out for a nice clean example for a first car as they are actually not too bad at all to be honest despite the reputation they have.
