Commuting/business use question
Discussion
I need to have a medical at work today, but it's on a different site to my usual place of work. I'll be driving straight to the medical, and afterwards to my usual site across the city.
Would this be seen as commuting or as driving on company business by an insurance company? If it's the latter I'll pick up a pool car to be on the safe side.
Sorry for the dullness of the question.

Surely the best thing to do is call your insurance company, you'll get an immediate answer and it will be 100% correct.
Asking on here means you'll be waiting for replies that are best guesses.
The problem with claiming you were going to the shops, is that if you cause a massive accident that is going to cost your insurance company thousands and thousands of pounds, you claiming you were going to the shops XX miles away in the rush hour isn't going to look good.

What the the Social, Domestic & Pleasure aspect in your insurance?
I honestly don't believe that,
1. the odds of you having an accident are significantly increased becuase you're going for a medical (unless your heart stops...)
2. your insurance company would claim your policy's invalid
I know insurance companies are vile, heartless
s, but perhaps not as much as you think.
HTH!

Going from home to your place of work is a commute and ok, going from one place of work to another is business use HTH. Should add it on as it might even lower your premium if they know your car is in a secure work car park for example during the day.
This, if you have to use your car during your work hours for anything relating to your work, be it medicals, going to the bank, going to fetch supplies or going to any different places of work then its business use. Commuting only covers your to go to 1 fixed place of work. If it is occasional trips to different places of work then most insurers will call it class 1 business use and not load anything or very little on the premium.Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
