Would love to hear feedback on some of these potential purchases? Anyone owned more than one of these and can compare them? or just owned or driven one and can provide some feedback?
If you havent seen my other thread i was looking for a modern, 4/5 door, comfortable with space (have 6 month old) and less than £250 a year tax. All for under 9k.
These are the contenders in no particular order:
Vectra VXR- Quick V6, Sporty looks, Poorish MPG and unless early 05/55 model it's £435 tax
Audi S4 B6- Even quicker V8, awesome noise and looks. Low mpg though, 10-12k miles a year means expensive. Plus 9k only gets early pre-facelift B6 high miler.
Golf Gti MK5- Hot hatch, decent spec and looks, easily modded. Common car and not fan of ones with oringial style gti seats.
Audi A3 3.2V6- Awesome engine, 250bhp and 4wd. Sportback 5 door not as nice as 3 door version, bland looks so would need s-line.
BMW 330i E90- Great spec, great looks. Not owned many RWD cars though and BMW servicing, parts costs expensive.
Seat Leon Cupra 2.0T 236bhp- Combines mpg and performance of modern car, also sporty looks. Seat though so prices fall, plus for 9k budget again only high milers.
Ford Mondeo ST220- Bargain of lot, 5-7k for lovely facelift V6 and agressive looks with loads of kit. Not the quickest, heard about problems with egr valves? mpg not great.
Saab 9-3 Aero 2.8T- little known apart from figures, they look good though along with the Aero kit. Unknown quantity.
Mazda 6 MPS- Great performance sporty looks, but apparently shocking mpg in real terms?
Ideally want to pick 4 or 5 to then test drive and see for myself how they drive and which is best for me.

h. Drinks like Gazza and doesnt feel as special as some other cars. Id go for a 9-3 Turbo X if i could find one, 20ps more, better cabin and all wheel drive.I drive a Leon Cupra 2.0T, though with Revo map giving 300(ish)bhp.
Real world MPG is around 28mpg for me, though can manage over 30mpg on a long run.

Oh, and with 240bhp it's pretty quick. With a £500 remap, it's very quick.

Not as speedy, but how about an x358 3.0 V6 Jaguar XJ. Loads of room, fantastic place to be and still no slouch and a good drive.
MG ZT260/Rover 75 V8 a leftfield choice. But 4.6 V8 and a very well sorted chassis should make it a contender.

PeteG - The octavia is nice but not a Skoda fan
mnkiboy - thanks for feedback, shame the 2.0T Cupra is slightly too expensive as to me as an all rounder it seems the best on paper. I do like the FR's and with a remap as well it could be a good option.
Fastra - Thats Saab looks good, that would kind of be what im after although to be picky ive told myself no more black cars!! But will check the 2.3T out.
300bhp/ton - Speed is important, i think all of these given under 7s 0-60 and after my diesel i think i want something that sounds good too. The Jag and MG are not for me, the Jag is not look im after and the MG - although an amazing engine - is still the 75 IMO.
