Ferrari Apprenticeship

I am considering applying for this when i finish my A levels next year as i would like to become a technician. Did anyone on here apply for this and complete the programme or do you know anyone who has applied and completed it, what did they think of it and did they get employed by a dealer?

I think you'll find competition for the places will be rather tough, speaking or at least learning to speak Italian may help, as a lot of the further training can take place at the factorys training centre.
I'd also suggest you remove the part of your post relating to your future goals, the last thing Ferrari want, is to spend tens of thousands training techs, only for them to leave the franchised network as soon as they can

well all i have heard is that you need 5 GCSE grades A*-C, i have 9 and 3 B's in the main core subjects, plus i should leave college with at least 2 strong A levels in ICT and Design Technology. I don't know ANY technicians in ANY dealer with A levels. You've done the wrong course IMO. Technicians have NVQ's (C&Gs if they are older) or BTEC Diplomas. And a LOT of experience. You have to remember that the specialist marques get 1million applications per day. If you are adament this is where you want to be. Try getting in with a small Fezza specialist. Then after 3-4 years. Moving to a Main dealer. I will point out that a couple years back Maranello in Egham laid off an awful lot of their staff. So you are up against some competition.

Probably a scheme called "Block release" no? So you work at a Ferrari dealer for 2-3 months then go to college for a week or 2. And that lasts a couple/three years. So you NEED to be at a Authorised dealer to be on that scheme. Just like going to Milton Keynes for Mercedes or VAG apprentices or Bracknell for BMW. It also involves a finacial comitment on the dealer behalf. So they have to WANT to do it.melvster said:

I suspect your inability to listen and "I know everything" attitude is probably hindering you at interview. An employer looks for experience. If you have a bit at Ferrari you could potentially get a place somewhere. though I'd argue that the fact they didn't hire you should maybe tell you something. We've just hired our work expeience guy (for the 3 year VAG scheme) as he demonstated willingness to learn and no ego.
A Levels are not a pre-requiste to get a job in a main dealer. They aren't specific enough. (though that does undersell the skils needed these days compared to 20 years ago) And if it's between 2 people with the same experience and 1 had a SPECIFIC motor vehicle course with good grades. And the other 2 A levels. I know who I'd be looking at hiring.

You've obviously researched it and have set your sights on it. Keep us posted on your progress.

Apply but be prepared for disappointment, unless you do some serious work on making yourself stand out, so if you want to get onto an apprenticeship do a car renovation or help out at a carting circuit, build a custom turbo system for your car anything that makes you really stand out as someone who lives and breaths cars, ideally Ferrari. I can't stress enough that for something like this you need some killer feature that makes you better than the other wanabes.

buy an mr2 and put a ferrari kit on it, they'll love it!Possibly an obvious question - but why ferrari specifically? I presume that this is an obvious interview question too. What did/would you say? Is it possible to get an apprenticeship with another prestige/performance car marque and move sideways/up, or doesnt it work like that? Engineering qualifications of some sort?

i have also considered Porsche, Jaguar and Aston Martin. Ferrrai mainly as i have a good knowledge about them and i love Ferrari, i am also hoping to try and gain some works experience with my local Ferrari/Maserati dealership as well, to try and give me an advantage.Good for you though - hope it works out!
