Stolen Ford Focus RS, RJ59 MVD
Discussion
Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster, and not the best way to start really...
Unfortunately my MK2 Focus RS was stolen from my drive this afternoon (30th August 2010) after the keys were taken from the house.
The car was taken from the Hayes area of West London at around 15:00 hrs. It's a Performance Blue one with Lux Pack 1 and blue cloth seats, everything else as standard and no notable bumps/dings to differentiate it. Registration as per the title, RJ59 MVD, and it has around 4600/4700 miles on the clock.
If everyone can keep their eyes open for any possible sightings or it's whereabouts, etc, that would be really appreciated. Any info, then if you could please get in touch with me or the police, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks.
Matt.

Why not reject and ask for a new uncrashed one?
Because unless he has gap insurance that isn't how it works sadly.
depends when the 59 was registered.ETA: it's a s
er that it was stolen, you can't have anything these days without some waste of oxygen and food wanting to take it from you.Edited by mattmoxon on Tuesday 12th October 23:02
One of the things I asked my insurance company after the car was recovered was where I stood in terms of rejecting it and getting either a replacement or a settlement/payout to buy another one.
They (Admiral) told me that if the car is economically repairable then they will carry out the repairs and wont write it off, and that they wouldn't give a cash settlement unless it is written off.
Does anyone have any further advice on whether I can just insist on not accepting the car back under any circumstances then? It was registered less than a year ago, and I do have gap insurance (or whatever the equivalent name is) with Ford if that has any bearing.
TIA for any thoughts.

If the car's less than a year old and you have GAP (either of these would do!) then yes, I believe you can reject the car - and unless you really want to keep that particular car and bugger the resale and that potential for it never being quite right again, you should..They (Admiral) told me that if the car is economically repairable then they will carry out the repairs and wont write it off, and that they wouldn't give a cash settlement unless it is written off.
