Yellow signs around Nottinghamshire

I've tried searching as I don't know how prevalent these are elsewhere, but I'm sure you've seen them.
It seems almost every roundabout and junction around Nottinghamshire is becoming infested with these incredibly annoying yellow signs. They started with just a few that said, "Think Bike," or similar, but now they're at almost every junction or roundabout saying moronic statements like, "Going too fast? Fatal mistake."
Does anybody know who's responsible for them? They're just printed onto plastic and postioned in the worst possible locations so surely they're not from the local Government?
Personally I find them very dangerous, as they're positioned to distract drivers approaching busy junctions.

Don't spend time looking at signs then you won't be distracted at junctions. Look where you're going.
They're there to remind drivers that bikes are less visible & to bikers that they may not be seen by car drivers who are too busy looking at road signs as well as a general reminder to bikers of all sorts of other things nasty that can affect them.

Erm... are you being serious?In my experience, they are generally postioned in places where bike accidents have previously occurred. It's not a slur on drivers in general, but you have to admit that there are drivers out there who aren't as aware of other road users as some other drivers may be. A gentle nudge to remind them to look twice surely can't be deemed a bad thing?
I agree with the OP - those signs are well annoying and can block your view.
I was on a slip road that doublebacked on itself before it joined a dual carriageway - normally you'd get a clear view of the road so you could plan a safe join - instead all you could see if the "Don't crash into this sign, it will hurt" signs.
I was so distracted I almost didn't get my knee down!

Ive seen no end out newark way, also.
To many of them, all saying stupid things.

The baby on board signs are for the rescue services to notify them that there is/was a baby in the car and that they should search for them in case they have been thrown clear of the vehicle during the collision.The fact that they might make you adjust your driving is an unintentional occurance.

Get them in S. Ireland too. "Accident Black Spot". As you go off the road because you're too busy trying to figure out why. A "Dangerous Bend" or "Blind Junction" sign would have been more useful. Or filling the 15 year old, 3 foot deep pothole.Cock Womble 7 said:
