Manufacturer Approved Used Warranty

I'm contemplating buying a 5 year old 156 which is covered by an Alfa Romeo Approved Warranty for 12 months. The car has a premium on the price of about £500 over similar examples offered for sale from non franchised dealers. The other advantage is the car is offered for sale by one of my nearest Alfa dealers (20 miles away).

The question is, do the PH massive think it's worth paying a small premium to get a manufacturer backed warranty?

I would say it very much depends on what is covered.

From my experience 147s (which are on the same platform, and generally use the same engines), have trouble with suspension, sometimes with power steering fluid leaks, and lastly cam variators. If none of these are covered by warranty, there might not be much point in paying the 500 premium.
