Smash and run

Just been sitting in my make-shift living room eating my tea, to hear a whoosh and a thud and my car alarm going off.
Go outside to see my o/s wing mirror absolutely mullered, so I drive off down the road in the vague hope someone has pulled up, but no.

There are some glass shards, with a part no. on, so I have a good idea of the type of vehicle that has done this - but when I get home I have a look at my car to find the drivers door scraped, the front wing and the front wheel badly scraped...
I might be able to get an idea of the colour of the offending vehicle, so what should I do?

I have phoned the local police to report, have to go down tomorrow to prove I am who I say I am - but what next?

I am obviously insured/taxed and all legit, but will this wipe my no-claims if I make a claim? Or do I just hope the offender is local, and that I can trach him down over the coming evenings - as I live on a small road, the traffic is very limited!

Any advice would be, as always, much appreciated.

One of those things mate I'm afraid. Even if you did find them you'd never prove it enough to get their insurance to pay out if they denied and you had no witnesses. Yes you'll lose your no claims if you claim. I'd just forget it, you'll cause
yourself a lot of stress and get nowhere, I work in the industry and I see it over and over.
