Question re: RAC cover second recovery

Just wondering, our car broke down and was recovered to our local mechanic who has now indicated that repairing head gaskets is a bit big a job for him. Result is that I now need the car to be re-recovered to another mechanic we know who will do the work some 20 miles away.

Will the RAC be prepared to re-recover the car on the grounds that where it was taken is not able to fix it? Anybody got any suggestions?

I think a second recovery will have to be funded by yourself.

I'd expect that they wouldn't cover it. The only time a 2nd recovery is normally authorised is if say a garage is closed overnight and then it is taken home or into storage and then redelivered the next day. Motoring clubs aren't there to ferry cars around from one garage to another.
